We are a Christ-centered NGO working to empower individuals and families affected by mental illness so that they can be well and live meaningful, productive, and fulfilling lives. Our institutional and outpatient-based care are at different locations i.e. Kampala, Fort Portal, and Kyenjojo district. We also work to strengthen the Kyenjojo district local government to respond appropriately to mental health needs.
We facilitate support groups for specific mental health challenges, where participants can find strength and encouragement through shared experiences and prayer.
Uzima Ministries is committed to nurturing the mental health of young people. We offer age-appropriate programs to equip children and youth with essential skills and values.
We actively engage with our community, reducing the stigma surrounding mental health and spreading awareness through collaboration with churches and local organizations.
Uzima Ministries runs a faith-based addiction recovery program, combining the 12-step model with Christian principles.
For those who cannot attend in person, we offer online counseling and support groups, making help accessible to all.
One day the team from Uzima Trauma Healing Program came to our church and told us about their mental services. I had a brother with a drinking problem, and I decided to take him to their place in Mutundwe. I didnt know what would happen, at first, he looked sad and downcast. They took him in gave him treatment and prayed for him. Once in a while I would check on him and I could see he was getting better. After two weeks they called me to pick him, I couldnt believe when I saw him. He had changed and even got born again. Thank you so much Uzima
I started getting mental health problems in Senior 2 now am 27 years. They took me to Butabika and other places where I was eventually diagnosed with bipolar disorder. I never used to take my medicine and got relapses. They brought me here at Uzima Trama Healing Program without my knowledge and at first, I wanted to run away. But later I accepted and was given treatment which helped me a lot. They also prayed for me. Am now OK taking my medicine and have not had a problem since I was discharged its coming to three months.
This young man is very good in mathematics at his school, he is now in senior three. We brought him to Uzima Trauma Healing Program and they started him on treatment. He took a few weeks on treatment and he improved. Now look at him, he is very ok and back to school.
